Building Relationships and Making an Impact

In 2021, the School of Business Administration (SBA) established its Executive in Residence (EIR) Program with founding Executive, Kevin McQuilkin. The SBA’s EIR program is a unique opportunity for retired or semi-retired senior level executives to get involved with students, faculty, staff, and community in support of the school’s values of academic excellence, engagement in our university and our community and our Jesuit legacy of inspired, confident, and innovative action.

The program includes various areas of focus including but not limited to:

  • Mentoring and advising students
  • Teaching
  • Working with the Center for Career and Professional Development
  • Job placement
  • Career counseling
  • Organizing guest lectures, special interest presentations, and panel discussions
  • Consulting with faculty on curriculum development and skill building
  • Fundraising

The impact that an EIR can bring to a program is quite substantial. An EIR can be an excellent avenue for sharing practical experience with students helping to prepare the next generation of leaders. In all cases, the presence of seasoned and successful executives on campus provides students with role models. Sharing lessons learned from practical experience, providing an opportunity for the EIR to use his/her knowledge to share life experiences for the benefit of the next generation of professionals is priceless.

Kevin McQuilkin

Kevin McQuilkin

Executive in Residence

In the fall of 2021, Kevin McQuilkin 鈥83, became the School of Business Administration鈥檚 first Executive in Residence after 35 years in investment banking in New York City. Kevin is an adjunct professor in finance, works with the Center for Career of Professional Development as a mentor to students through the job placement process, organizes special interest presentations and panel discussions, consults with faculty on curriculum development and skill building, and helps with fundraising.

Jabez LeBret

Executive in Residence

Jabez LeBret is an Executive in Residence in the SBA. A 2002 杏吧原创 graduate with concentrations in marketing and finance, LeBret鈥檚 expertise spans marketing, finance, education, and entrepreneurship. Since earning his degree, he has established himself as a thought leader and innovator, contributing to Forbes as a current columnist and previously serving as a business columnist for NBC Chicago. He is also the author of a New York Times best-selling book called 鈥淚 Don鈥檛 Match Socks.鈥滺e has co-founded several organizations, including Sisu Academy, a tuition-free boarding high school in the San Diego area designed to empower underserved and disengaged high school students. A passionate innovator and community advocate, Jabez is dedicated to driving systemic change, fostering entrepreneurial thinking, and creating opportunities for underserved communities.

Ray Eby

Visiting Executive in Residence

Ray Eby is a visiting executive in residence in the SBA. Eby is an experienced executive with a career spanning many roles and divisions at 3M including as former president of 3M鈥檚 Personal Safety Division. He also is the former CEO of Innovations in Nutrition and Wellness. He has legal expertise as a former commercial trial lawyer. Eby holds a JD from the University of Minnesota Law School and an MA in Liberal Studies from St. John鈥檚 College. Additionally, he is committed to community service, having served on many charitable boards including as Chairman of the Board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities and as a foster parent in Minnesota.

Linda Underwood

Visiting Executive in Residence

Linda Underwood is a visiting executive in residence in the SBA. With more than 30 years of experience in commercial banking, Linda is now a senior vice president and manager of Banner Bank鈥檚 Spokane Commercial Banking Center. She created a program for business students who are interested in careers in the financial field. Eighteen students are participating in the first cohort of Women in Finance, a program designed to increase each person鈥檚 confidence, to enhance their potential, and to help them design an individual pathway for personal and professional leadership within a financial context.

Brian Wellinghoff

Visiting Executive in Residence

Brian Wellinghoff is a visiting executive in residence in the SBA and a business executive in residence at Virginia Commonwealth University. He also is senior director of leadership and outreach of Barry-Wehmiller and co-founder of Humanistic Leadership Academy. He facilitates many workshops on humanistic leadership with topics such as empathetic listening, trust and inspiration, recognition and celebration, and creating a culture of service. Brian is part of the team leading the SBA faculty and staff through the Humanistic Leadership Academy.

Duy Dang

Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence

In the fall of 2024, Duy Dang of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology Vietnam was a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence in the School of Business Administration. Dang is a senior lecturer and senior program manager for the PhD programs in RMIT鈥檚 business school. His research and teaching focus on applied analytics, digital transformation and information security management. He will teach undergraduate and graduate classes focusing on topics such as data science, information system management and information system governance.
